Johnny Can Spell is a systematic, explicit approach to phonics and word study instruction. Lessons using the JCSpell instructional approach integrate phonemic awareness, phonics, handwriting, spelling, vocabulary, and word grammar. Instructional routines incorporate retrieval practice, space repetition, and interleaving (as defined in cognitive science research) to develop the knowledge base and skills needed for smooth encoding and decoding during reading and writing.This course provides training in Alice Nine's Johnny Can Spell approach.
